"Since the statistics on lethal violence (completed murders, manslaughter, infanticide and causing another’s death through assault) give an overestimate of the actual number of cases the Council carries out an annual audit of the lethal violence reported. This is in order to produce corrected data from which incidents that are not lethal violence, incorrect reports and duplicates have been removed. These audits show that women account for about one third of the victims of lethal violence. In 2013 a total of 87 cases of lethal violence were established in Sweden, and in 26 of these cases the victim was a woman" (page 22).
