One of the most interesting aspects of WomanStats interdisciplinary research is the creation of world maps that represent the various aspects of the situation of women worldwide. As noted in the research section of this website, we have developed several indices of women's status, which then may be mapped using GIS and other techniques of political geography. Below find several maps, corresponding to our scales of 1) Women's Physical Security, 2) Inequity in Family Law, 3) Trafficking of Women, 4) Son Preference/Sex Ratio, 5) Discrepancy Between Law and Practice Concerning Women, and 6) Legality/Prevalence of Polygyny. We also have two maps concerning Islamic countries only, including 1) Required Dress Codes for Women, and 2) Regulation of Women Intermingling in Public.
